Marley- leopard gecko

Marley was a pet surrender from Mobile, Alabama. His owner was moving and could not take him with them. Though he came to us in good health, he did have lots of stuck shed and lacked a humid hide. Though pet stores may tell someone to buy sand, these geckos don’t actually live on sand. These geckos naturally live on normal dirt and dig to make hides. 

Marley loves to hang out with his keepers and enjoys a variety of different bugs. He lives up to these gecko’s calm, docile demeanor. We love being able to teach people about these amazing animals and how best to care for them.

Interesting Fact:  Leopard geckos have eyelids! In fact, having eyelids is rare enough among reptiles that leopard gecko’s scientific name comes from their ability to close their eyes.  The scientific name for leopard geckos is “Eublepharis Macularius.” Translated from Latin, Eublepharis means “good eyelids” and “macular” means spotted.  So a leopard gecko is a spotted lizard with “good,” or functional, eyelids.
